FAQ

  • Is my roof suitable for solar panels?

This depends on factors such as size, sunlight exposure, and shading at your property. Most of the time, it's not the roof itself that is the issue. Shading is a major factor that hinders some properties. It's best to make sure tall trees or other objects are not casting shade on solar panels.

  • How much does a solar system cost?

The cost will vary widely. It depends on whether the panels are new or used, their efficiency, the manufacturer, etc. Additionally, it would depend on whether you want a battery storage system (which, most of the time, is not recommended – contact me so I can explain why). There are a significant number of variables related to the price.

  • What is the payback period for a solar?

This depends on the following factors: the size of your solar system, the cost, PLN electricity rates, whether or not you paid cash for your system or financed it, and more. The answer is highly tailored to each customer and the system that is designed. Contact me for free, and let me walk you through all the steps.

  • What are the different types of solar?

Monocrystalline, Polycrystalline, Thin-Film, PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell), Concentrated Photovoltaic (CPV), Perovskite Cells (the newest technology not yet available for commercial deployment), and many more. I can explain each one in an easy-to-understand way. Contact me to learn more.

  • How long do solar panels last?

The 25-30 year lifespan refers to the linear warranty, which guarantees a minimum power output (usually just over 3/4 of initial efficiency) for that duration. This doesn't mean panels stop working after 30 years. They will continue generating electricity but at a gradually decreasing rate. This decline is called degradation.

  • What is net-metering?

Net metering is a billing mechanism that allows you to generate your own electricity with solar panels and receive credit for the excess you send back to the PLN grid. It's like having a virtual battery, storing your solar energy for later use. Reduced electricity bills, increased energy independence, and financial incentives.

  • Can solar panels be recycled?

Solar panels provide a clean and sustainable energy source, but like any technology, they eventually reach their End-of-Life (EoL). Decommissioning, transportation, pre-processing, recycling, and material recovery are all areas where Jakarta Solar℠ can offer assistance to reduce the environmental impact.

  • How to choose a solar company?

You may have observed that several solar companies don't reveal information about their employees, and even if they do, qualifications are seldom displayed. Unfortunately, many solar energy companies do not have a single person holding a degree in Renewable Energy Systems (RES). Be careful whom you hire!
